Hello! How can we help you?

Which rollator is best for beach walking?

You can now go to the beach with a walker. Make sure you have the right walker for the occasion.

If you haven't been to the beach in years, be sure you can have the freedom to do so. Visit and walk on the beach without having to struggle to visit a gorgeous place.

Traditional walkers aren't made for the beach.

Regular walkers are usually designed for walking on a hard floor in nursing homes. The general idea is that the rollator is for users living a slow indoor life and is not designed to be an enabler for continuing to live the life you lived before you had a mobility issue.

If you are planning to buy a rollator for the beach, make sure its wheels are 12-inch or bigger to be able to negotiate the dunes. The wheels are crucial for being able to walk on the beach, but you also want to be able to use the walker to and from the beach.

Folding the beach walker

Folding the walker without tools and being able to fold the walker into the boot of the car is essential if you don't live in a beach house next to the beach. The best walkers for the beach should allow for tool-free disabling so that they can be transported quickly.

Best beach walker

The best solution is to invest in an outdoor walker that can be used on all different terrains not only on the sand, which is just a small part of the journey to and from the beach. Also, one reason is that beach walkers are more of a luxury than a necessity when they are mostly meant to be used a few times during the year.

Beach walkers for seniors

Seniors in particular benefit from a purpose-built beach walker. Standard rollators with small rubber wheels sink into sand on contact, making every step a struggle. Beach walkers for seniors need large-diameter wheels — ideally pneumatic tyres 12 inches or more — combined with a lightweight aluminium frame so the whole thing can be carried over short stretches where even big wheels cannot roll. The Trionic Veloped meets all of these criteria and folds without tools for easy transport to and from the shore.

Walkers for beach use — what to look for

When comparing walkers for beach use, three features decide whether the trip is enjoyable or exhausting: wheel diameter, overall frame weight, and tool-free foldability. Larger wheels float over soft sand where smaller wheels dig straight in; a lighter frame can be lifted over the trickiest sections; and a quick-fold mechanism makes loading into the car effortless. The Trionic Veloped combines all three in one all-terrain design built for exactly this kind of outdoor adventure.

We installed the brake cable to my rollator. It was quick

My 94-year-old mother walks 4 to 6 km a day with it in her beloved forest, it is easy to drive / steer, bumps are mastered without any problems, my mother is grateful, no longer feels as ‘shaken’ as with the old ordinary outdoor rollator.

    I am 86-year-old and weigh 58 kg.
The device looks good (to be envious), is well thought out and easy to assemble. What struck me:

    - on inclines (effort needed to push uphill and to h…

  • Essential for urban hiking…

So much easier to use than the 12 er. The fact that it can climb most curbs in Boston is nothing short of genius! The 14 inch wheels make on and off-roading such a breeze and a very smooth ride throughout! I go about 7 miles a day on my Veloped, and …

  • I bought the Walker after the Veloped…

After careful consideration, I bought the Walker because I am no longer able to go off-road (I had the Trionic Veloped before).
I was already familiar with the tyres.
