How to get a rollator for a person with a disability in Chile?

The Assistive Technology Program, administered by SENADIS, fully or partially finances support devices or assistive technology required by people with disabilities to improve their functionality, autonomy, or independent living.

  • If it is not approved, there is a right to appeal or reversal according to the deadlines and conditions established by SENADIS.

8. What to consider when choosing a walker/rollator as an assistive device?

  • Verify that the walker is included in the “2025 List of Assistive Devices (Annex No. 1)”.

  • That it is suitable for your mobility context (indoor/outdoor, type of terrain, brake, adjustable height).

  • Keep technical documentation: indication form, occupational therapist's diagnosis or physiotherapist, etc.

  • If you have already received previous aid, check that you were not a beneficiary in the previous agreement if the requirement indicates it.

9. What happens if I don't qualify or the device isn't listed?

  • If the assistance you need isn't listed, you can consult with SENADIS or the regional office to see if a special case can be submitted.

  • There are also other avenues for support: municipalities, organizations for people with disabilities, and private foundations.

  • You can present your needs to your municipality so they can manage them through local programs or regional.

If you are in Chile and need a rollator due to a disability, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that you are registered in the RND and have updated information in the RSH.
